Full course description

This presentation will remember January 15, 1978 - one of the most astounding and unforgettable days in the history of the City of Auburn. A natural gas-fueled explosion that Sunday morning at the intersection of Gay Street and East Magnolia Avenue demolished four buildings; blew out windows up and down Magnolia and even around the corner on College Street; and led to a much-needed re-development of Auburn's downtown business district.  Astoundingly - and this is the story of that day - not a soul was injured.  Sam will set the stage, reviewing events which came before the explosion. He will introduce you to a number of people who "could've/should've" been in close proximity to the blast. And he will share the life-saving circumstances that kept each at a safe distance that morning.
