Oct 15 - Nov 11, 2018 This course is designed to help those that have a responsibility to establish or maintain an effective emergency management or preparedness program.
1. Identifying budgetary challenges of building an emergency management program, focusing on strategies when emergency preparedness may not be the stated funding priority.
2. Creating specific job descriptions for Emergency Management Employees.
3. Examining complex working relationships between local, state and federal agencies.
4. Developing good working interagency and regional relationships and agreements prior to a disaster or large scale emergency.
 5. Identifying and developing external stakeholders and non-profit organizations to establish good working relationships and partnerships to aid in recovery processes following a disaster.
 6. Assessing knowledge, perceptions, abilities and priorities of local, state and federal elected and appointed officials in order to create workable and sustainable programs for preparedness, response, recovery and mitigation.
7. Incorporating community, stakeholders and elected officials in the creation and maintenance of an all-hazards mitigation plan.
8. Identifying which State and Federal grants your jurisdiction may be eligible for based upon listed hazards and mitigation actions.
9. Implementing and communicating the for requesting mutual aid resources as well as resources from State and Federal agencies.
